What we do
In short: We create independent documentaries. All of our projects deal with
film, theater, and literature in one way or another. Our two major documentary projects are also intimately connected with
Jewish history and culture.
The reason for what we do is a strong interest in arts and a huge admiration for expressive people who are following their talents and their passion. At the same time, we seek for ways to realize our own creative ideas.
When it comes to arts as one form of human expression, we are always interested in connections: between artwork, artist, and recipient, as well as between intellect and emotion. The interview is often the central approach for our work.
By providing our research results to diverse audiences, we try to close the gap between an academic and a non-academic audience.
We currently live and work in Germany, but our own passion that we are trying to put into our work frequently leads us to other countries, first and foremost the USA and England. So far, all of our projects have been launched besides our academic studies.
Our films have been screened at various festivals and congresses in the USA, Canada, England, Germany, Malta, and Australia.

How it all started
We both met each other at the University Of Kiel in 2003. Sharing lots of interests, we attended several workshops and congresses together. In 2005, we were able to produce our first non-professional film project with "The Fracture Guild of Schönhorst".
Shortly after that we came across the legendary entertainer Al Jolson, and we developed the idea for a professional independent documentary project: "On the Road to Al Jolson".
Our encounter with Al Jolson was basically the inspiration that got us started on realizing all of our following professional projects.
We operate in a complementary teamwork, and although the areas of responsibility are not strictly separated, there is a difference in our talents and in our fields of activity:
Andrea is responsible for the ideas and the artistic realization (script, direction, camera, editing), as well as for the organization in the background (research, storyboard, shooting schedule). Jens is responsible for the technical part (software acquirements, audio editing, video conversion) and public relations.
