Video series: Yiddish I | Tutor: Andrea Oberheiden

The first part of our Yiddish course will give you an idea of how the Yiddish language sounds. We will also discuss the history of this West Germanic language that emerged during the High Middle Ages. You will learn the Yiddish alphabet, the "alefbeys" (in Hebrew letters), and to hold simple conversations in the Yiddish language. At the end of this video series, you will also be able to read and decode Yiddish texts (block letters). The second part of our Yiddish course will focus on Yiddish cursive.
